Title: School Guidance Counselor
Career and Technical Education
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month
REPORTS TO: Building Principal TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:

- Provide counseling to students focusing on their academic, social, and emotional needs
- Act as liaison between community-based organizations, students and work-based learning coordinator
- Works closely with school districts to recruit future students (district tours, presentations and individual student visits)
- Respond to day-to-day issues and unanticipated student crisis during the school day
- Shares guidance duties with other Career and Tech guidance counselors
- Coordinates student recognition ceremonies
- Serve as a liaison between the college and multiple school districts, fostering collaborative relationships to support student success.
- Coordinate registration processes with participating colleges to ensure students are enrolled in appropriate courses and programs.
- Work closely with school districts to recruit future students through presentations and one-on-one student visits.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration to support the overall mission of Sullivan County BOCES.
REQUIREMENTS
- NYS School Counselor Certification
- Working knowledge of the instructional and social needs of students
- Ability to design and implement in-school prevention programming according to current best practices
- Ability to simultaneously manage a regular counseling schedule and triage crises
- Ability to prioritize multiple competing urgent tasks
