JOB DESCRIPTION: CREDIT RECOVERY INSTRUCTOR

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: BASE SALARY BASED ON DEGREE LEVEL

 

DEPARTMENT: Career Academy

 

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT SAFETY-SENSITIVE: YES

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Teaches academic subjects to students enrolled in the Credit Recovery program through the use of Edgenuity and other tutorial methods necessary. Performs responsible instructional duties under limited supervision in a class setting; prepares students for graduation; prepares grade reporting; conducts credit checks; and advises supervisor concerning needs of the classroom.

Attends meetings and participates in overall quality of program and school. An incumbent in this position will utilize discretion, ingenuity, and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, current Oklahoma Teaching
  • Secondary level preferred, with background in English, Math, Science or Social

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

  1. Interactive with all students throughout the day to guide, assist, encourage and instruct the lessons along with the Edgenuity program.

 

 

 

  1. Works within Edgenuity to adjust classes based on the different ability levels of students while meeting the state standards in each subject area.

 

 

 

  1. Objectively administers and evaluates assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests to determine student progress. Records results in student information management software. Communicates issues (via written, verbal, and in person) and progress reports to parents.

 

 

 

  1. Maintains discipline, high expectations, and monitors a classroom of secondary
  2. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, teacher training workshops, advisory committee meetings, student recruiting/promotional

 

school events, and parent teacher conferences.

 

 

 

  1. Acts as the lead instructor for the students in the following areas: performance, discipline, post-high school plans, life skills, field trips, and guest speakers.

 

 

 

  1. Participates in IEP meetings when appropriate and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of special needs students.

 

 

 

  1. Communicate with Director of Alternative Education, sending high school counselors, career tech counselors and administration on discipline and grades of students.

 LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:  

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up or more than 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to or more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.

 

The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

 

To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
