About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, experienced Registered Behavioral Technician to provide one-to-one support to our adult son in a private home and community-based setting.
Our son is fun-loving, socially interactive, and non-verbal. He communicates through gestures and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and enjoys being active in the community. We are developing a consistent daily routine that includes community outings, volunteer opportunities, and structured activities, such as helping at a local food pantry, community gardening, etc.
This role is ideal for a RBT who values person-centered support, active engagement, and relationship-based work—not passive supervision and is wanting to use their skills in a natural home environment while engaged with activities of daily living and community outings.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one direct support in home and community settings
- Support functional communication using gestures and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- Facilitate community integration, outings, and volunteer activities
- Encourage engagement, independence, and choice
- Follow established routines, safety plans, and support guidelines
- Observe, document, and communicate relevant information to the family
Qualifications
- Experience as a registered behavioral technician or similar role preferred
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities
- Comfortable working with a non-verbal individual
- Dependable, patient, and engaged
- Interest in consistent, longer-term part-time work
- Ability to pass required background checks
Additional Information
Selected candidates may be invited to participate in a paid trial shift prior to final hiring.
Experience supporting non-verbal individuals using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), functional communication strategies, and community-based supports is especially appreciated.
