ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Duties
Review assigned provider tasks including hospitalization notifications, prescription refills, consultant notes, laboratory and diagnostic imaging and report results.
Obtain prior authorization for services, medications and/or communicate the need for authorizations.
Converse with patients and create chart updates for provider signatures.
Review patient records to identify and resolve issues prior to appointments.
Provide direct patient care and assist with minor in office surgical procedures as needed.
Provide nursing triage as needed including, emergency, isolation, crisis intervention, and administer medications as needed.
Support the Office Manager in overseeing Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) during absences and/or when needed.
Support medical management with daily coordination, direction, and evaluation of delivery of patient care for the health center’s medical care department.
Provide and promote quality patient care based on the individual needs of the multicultural patient populations served.
Serve as a liaison between medical providers, medical support staff and other departments
Assist in the coordination of care with the interdisciplinary team members for achievement of patient goals
Administrative Duties
Handles all communication including daily mail, telephone calls and information requests with courtesy, accuracy, and respect for confidentiality.
Receive information and distribute messages as needed.
Responsible for accurate and timely documentation.
Participate in internal committees, meetings, audits, and site visits as needed
Gather patient information accurately and completely by utilizing appropriate templates in agency’s database: Current Electronic Health Records (EHR), Practice Analytics, Provide (Broward County).
Quality Assurance/Compliance
Adhere to Infection Control Policies and Procedures, including Universal Precautions to achieve compliance and maintain a safe environment of care.
Maintain agency guidelines relating to safety, outreach and confidentiality.
Ensure proper hand washing according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
Understand and appropriately acts upon assigned role in Emergency Code System.
Understand and perform assigned role in Agency Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).
Ensure that medical operations fully comply with Agency and HIPAA requirements.
Review patient records on a monthly basis for quality assurance compliance.
Promote agency ancillary services (i.e. Nutrition, Dental, Behavioral Health, Specialty Care) when clinically indicated and appropriate.
Ensure that online trainings are current as required (MyLearning Pointe and other trainings).
Assist the supervisor in training new staff (peers).

Physical Requirements
This work requires the following physical activities: constant talking in person, talking on the phone, hearing/visual acuity and exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials. Frequent, walking, sitting and bending. Occasional standing, driving and climbing may be required. Work is performed in clinical/office settings.
