CarePlus Residential Services, LLC
HR Assistant – Part-Time
Employment Type: Part-Time, Hourly
Schedule: Approximately 24–32 hours per week
Work Location: On-site – Lewiston, Maine
CarePlus Residential Services, LLC is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Part-Time HR Assistant to provide on-site Human Resources and administrative support at our Lewiston Head Office.
Schedule and Location: This is a part-time, hourly position working approximately 24–32 hours per week based on company needs and available work. The position is primarily on-site at 1180 Lisbon Street, Lewiston, Maine.
Position Overview: The HR Assistant will work directly under the direction of the HR & Administration Manager, who will continue to lead the Human Resources function. The selected employee will receive ongoing instruction, training, and review while progressively learning CarePlus HR systems, processes, documentation standards, and employee-support responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities: Responsibilities include supporting recruitment and applicant communication; posting positions and scheduling interviews; assisting with new-hire onboarding and orientation; preparing and maintaining confidential personnel records; assisting with I-9, E-Verify, background checks, registries, and other employment eligibility requirements after appropriate training; learning and supporting Paychex and other CarePlus HR systems; assisting with employee status changes and routine HR documentation; tracking required trainings, certifications, credentials, and expiration dates; following up on missing or incomplete employee documentation; supporting benefits, leave, workers’ compensation, payroll-related HR documentation, and other HR processes as assigned; assisting with personnel-file audits and compliance reviews; and providing general on-site HR administrative support.
The HR Assistant will also participate in ongoing training with the HR & Administration Manager and will progressively assume additional HR duties as competency, reliability, confidentiality, sound judgment, and independence are demonstrated. Sensitive employee-relations, disciplinary, compensation, compliance, or unfamiliar HR matters must be referred to the HR & Administration Manager.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred. Previous Human Resources, administrative, office, staffing, compliance, scheduling, training, or records-management experience is preferred. Experience within healthcare, residential services, behavioral health, or another regulated environment is also preferred.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, computer proficiency, and the ability to learn new systems and HR processes. The candidate must also be able to follow established procedures, accept feedback, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, and recognize when an HR matter requires escalation.
Internal Candidates: Qualified current CarePlus employees are encouraged to apply. Previous knowledge of CarePlus programs, employees, operations, and company procedures will be considered an advantage; however, candidates must still demonstrate the confidentiality, professionalism, administrative ability, judgment, and learning capability required for Human Resources work.
Growth Opportunity: This position will initially be part-time. As the employee demonstrates the knowledge, competency, judgment, reliability, confidentiality, and independence necessary to perform broader Human Resources responsibilities, CarePlus may consider expanding the position and/or transitioning the employee to full-time employment. There is no predetermined timeline for this transition, and conversion to full-time employment is not guaranteed. Any transition will be based on demonstrated readiness, performance, company needs, and management approval.
