Contract Recreation Therapist - Lenox, MI
Care One, Inc. is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to provide therapeutic recreational activities for incarcerated individuals at Macomb Correctional Facility in Lenox, MI.
Position Details:

Important: This position is located within a secure correctional facility. Candidates must be comfortable working in a secure environment and meeting all facility and pre-employment requirements.
Recreational Therapist Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate individual and group recreational therapy activities, including yoga, calisthenics, board games, sports, crafts, sewing, painting, cooking, and other therapeutic activities.
- Assess individual needs through observation, review of documentation, and functional assessments.
- Develop and adapt recreational therapy activities to support individual therapeutic goals.
- Facilitate structured individual and group recreational therapy sessions.
- Maintain therapeutic materials, equipment, and program supplies.
- Accurately document therapy sessions and activities in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Monitor participant progress and modify activities as appropriate.
- Communicate and collaborate with facility staff and other members of the care team.
Recreational Therapist Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy - Required
- Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification - Required
- Valid BLS certification - Required
- Minimum 2 years of recreational therapy experience - Required
- Ability to design and adapt therapeutic activities to meet individual needs.
- Experience facilitating individual and group therapy sessions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a structured and secure environment.
