What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respiratory Therapist position at Care One Home Medical Equipment?
About Us
For over 24 years, Care One has stood apart as New York City’s most trusted independent, owner-operated respiratory services provider.
We are not private-equity owned — our owners remain hands-on in daily operations. Physicians throughout the region consistently describe our team as the most responsive and clinically thorough in the field.
Our focus is advanced home respiratory care, including mechanical ventilation for patients with neuromuscular conditions such as ALS and sleep-related breathing disorders requiring PAP therapy (CPAP, BiPAP, Auto-BiPAP, Bipap ST and ASV).
We believe in doing things the right way — clinically sound, patient-focused, and deeply collaborative with the medical community.

- Autonomy with backup. You’ll manage your own daily schedule and decisions in the field — with strong support from our experienced clinical and management team when needed.
- Predictable schedule. Daytime, weekday hours.
- Tight territory & manageable caseload. Most visits are within NYC and immediate suburbs (typically 3–5 patient visits per day).
- Professional growth and mentorship. We invest in our therapists with structured training for those new to home care and the provide the resources and support needed for advancement.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct home visits for mechanical ventilator and PAP device setups, education, and follow-up care.
- Evaluate therapy effectiveness, ensure patient comfort and compliance, and coordinate with physicians and caregivers.
- Document assessments, equipment setup, and patient progress accurately in our EMR system.
- Provide education and in-services to referral sources and home health partners as needed.
- Maintain a professional, patient-centered approach in every interaction.
What You’ll Bring
- Current Respiratory Therapist License (NY or NJ) and NBRC credential preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for home visits (vehicle or mileage stipend provided).
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
- Compassion for the elderly and medically fragile populations.
- Prior home-care experience is a plus, but we welcome motivated hospital RTs and recent graduates who want to build a long-term career in home respiratory care.
What We Offer
- Compensation: $75,000 – $125,000 base salary (according to experience) incentive program mileage/vehicle stipend.
- Benefits: Health, 401(k) with match, generous PTO, paid holidays.
- Professional development: Paid CEUs, state license renewal, and NBRC maintenance reimbursement.
- Supportive culture: Direct access to ownership and clinical leadership who care about your success and work-life balance.

This role is ideal for a clinician who takes pride in their work, values autonomy and clinical excellence, and wants to be part of a team known for doing things right the first time.
