Job Summary

The Providence Center Child and Family Services Early Childhood Institute (ECI) Clinical Therapist - Intensive Outpatient Program-Enhanced Outpatient Services (IOS/EOS) will assess the needs of children and their families, develop treatment plans, provide clinical consultation to Early Childhood teaching and case management staff, and monitor level of care provided. Evaluate parent/child relationships as assigned. Contribute to the development of the therapeutic environment of Early Childhood programs. Also, To provide community based /outpatient therapeutic services to children, adolescents and their families.

Schedule: Two days/week in IOP classroom, three days/week EOS/Outpatient.

Duties And Responsibilities

Provide therapeutic child development programs for children who cannot be maintained in community day care settings, or are referred by Early Intervention programs, DCYF, their parents, or physicians.

Assess assigned preschool children’s needs.

Administer developmental assessments as assigned.

Develop and implement treatment plans and Individual Education Plans (IEP) for assigned caseload.

Identify specific therapeutic interventions appropriate for specific problems.

Provide treatment services for parents as delineated in the treatment plan and program guidelines.

Support teaching staff by participating in instructional opportunities, using age and developmentally appropriate procedures.

Provide parenting skills training individually or in a group.

Ensure family contact and involvement according to program guidelines.

Provide parent/child evaluations for DCYF and based on clinical assessment formulate recommendations regarding permanency planning for the child.

Provide clinical input during client crises.

Demonstrate professionalism in communication and collaboration with children, families, colleagues, and community.

Understand and interpret EC program philosophy and treatment approach to families, EC staff, and potential referral sources.

Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers.

Treat consumers with respect.

Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.

Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV).

Perform and record mental status examination.

Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others.

Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.

Develop and present, verbally and in writing, a clear clinical formulation based on behavioral data and relevant theory while incorporating psychosocial and family issues.

Use psychiatric consultation and intervention when clinically appropriate.

Use knowledge to decide appropriate levels of care in order to refer to various points in the continuum of care.

Demonstrate awareness and skill in addressing areas related to diversity.

Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.

Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input.

Apply Knowledge Of Psychopathology And Primary Methodologies Of Psychotherapy.

Provide an appropriate role model for children in areas of dress, language, and behavior.

Demonstrate an understanding of Center policies and perform duties in accordance with their guidelines.

Maintain reliable attendance, promptness, and dependability.

Select and use appropriate channels for resolving concerns.

Participate in EC team meetings.

Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the children’s and families’ networks of care.

Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health resources in the community.

Communicate with payer sources to obtain authorizations for the identified treatment needs of the children.

Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff.

Facilitate referrals to other appropriate service providers.

Provide consultation and training in the community as assigned.

Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other TPC requirements within required time frame.

Follow required office procedures in a cooperative manner.

CACFP duties which may include organizing meal counts, serving meals, and CACFP Monitoring requirements

Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences.

Provide feedback to staff on the content of educational programs attended.

Attend mandatory in-service trainings and other trainings required for renewal of licensure.

Participate in the education of other TPC staff.

Provide in-service trainings to EC team on clinical issues, case presentations, and conferences as assigned.

Participate in EC trainings on therapeutic holds and be able to perform holds on children.

Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff.

Work in cooperation with co-workers and supervisory staff.

Serve on appropriate Center committees.

Provide clinical supervision to assigned students and interns.

Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Master's degree in Human Services or related field and several years of clinical experience counselling young children and their families.

Knowledge of child development, therapeutic techniques/interventions with children and their families required.

Prior Experience In Educational Setting And Multidisciplinary Team Preferred.

LICSW/LMHC strongly preferred.

Bilingual preferred.

Must have valid driver's license, registration, current inspection and insured automobile.
