Sonographer Job Description
Objectives of the position: The Sonographer is responsible for performing limited obstetric ultrasound examinations in accordance with the Medical Director's protocols and the Center's Policies & Procedures, while providing the highest-quality client care.
Reports to: The Medical Services Manager and the Medical Director
Qualifications:
- Committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
- Strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and sexual purity
- In agreement with and willing to uphold the Center's mission and policies
- Certified Ultrasound Technician or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in good standing
- Certified in CPR / Basic Life Support training
- Lead ultrasound appointments and maintain sensitivity to women in crisis
- Knowledgeable in female reproduction, early gestation, and obstetrics
- Reliable, organized, and flexible in the Center environment
Essential Functions:
- Review and adhere to the Center's Policies and Procedures, uphold best practice standards, and ensure compliance with State of Florida regulations.
- Be available to consult with Center staff regarding ultrasound appointment scheduling.
- Screen clients to ensure eligibility prior to ultrasound examinations
- Communicate ultrasound examination results and information concerning client care to the Medical Director or MD reviewing the exam and the Medical Services Manager.
- Know what merits contacting the Medical Director for consultation during an ultrasound exam
- Answer the client's questions within the sonographer's scope of practice
- Complete ultrasound examination documents and chart information
- Ensure the ultrasound machine and medical equipment are properly operated, cleaned, and maintained
- Perform pregnancy tests and distribute prenatal vitamins if the RN is not available
- Attend medical staff training for Universal Precautions, Infection Control, and other Center training sessions.
- Manage ultrasound medical supplies and inform the Medical Services Manager of inventory needs
- Assure compliance with infection control guidelines
- Represent Center at Medical Fairs and other community events when called upon
- Possibly attend conferences for professional training and to further best practices
- Maintain Sonographer registration, continuing education and/or NIFLA ultrasound certification
The Sonographer will be evaluated on a yearly basis by the Medical Director and Medical Services Manager in both written and oral form
