Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontic treatments, and prosthodontics
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage patient records accurately within EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, including medical documentation and medical coding
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote overall dental health
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical records
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging when necessary for pediatric or general dentistry cases
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control standards is essential
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques such as chairside assisting, aseptic technique, and taking X-rays is required
- Knowledge of EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic enhances efficiency in managing medical records and documentation
- Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is a plus
- Certification or training in medical terminology, medical coding, or advanced dental assisting skills is advantageous
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment practicing four-handed dentistry to improve patient comfort and procedure efficiency
