About the Role
The Housekeeping Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents and staff. This position involves overseeing daily housekeeping operations, managing a team of housekeeping staff, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the facility. The supervisor will coordinate schedules, provide training, and monitor compliance with health and safety regulations to support resident care and well-being. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with healthcare and administrative teams to address specific cleaning needs related to resident care areas. Ultimately, the Housekeeping Supervisor ensures that the environment contributes positively to the overall quality of care and resident satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping staff to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Train and mentor housekeeping team members on proper cleaning techniques, infection control protocols, and safety procedures.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with infection control policies, including proper handling of waste and contaminated materials.
- Conduct regular inspections of resident rooms, common areas, and equipment to ensure cleanliness and address any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with nursing and care staff to understand specific resident care needs that impact housekeeping priorities.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, supplies inventory, and staff attendance.
- Respond to resident and staff requests or concerns related to housekeeping services in a timely and professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in housekeeping or environmental services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Basic computer literacy to manage schedules, reports, and communication.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and safety regulations.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising a housekeeping or environmental services team.
- Familiarity with resident care environments and understanding of resident needs related to cleanliness.
- Certification in infection control or related healthcare cleaning standards.
