About the Role
The Activities Assistant at CarDon and Associates plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by organizing and facilitating engaging and meaningful activities. This position focuses on promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being through a variety of tailored programs. The successful candidate will work closely with residents to understand their interests and abilities, ensuring activities are inclusive and accessible to all. Collaboration with care staff and family members is essential to create a supportive and enjoyable environment. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall happiness and satisfaction of residents within the community.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver a diverse range of recreational and therapeutic activities that cater to the interests and needs of residents.
- Encourage resident participation and foster a positive atmosphere that promotes social engagement and personal development.
- Assist in organizing special events, outings, and celebrations to enrich the residents' experience.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and resident feedback to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans and support residents' physical and emotional well-being.
Minimum Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate individuals with varying levels of ability.
- A commitment to promoting dignity, respect, and independence for all residents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or training in activity coordination, recreational therapy, or related fields.
- First Aid qualification.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to care environments.
- Experience working with individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
