Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at the front desk.
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification.
- Collect and process payments, including medical collections, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage medical records and documentation review, maintaining confidentiality and proper filing procedures.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently.
- Assist with intake procedures, including data entry and updating patient information in the EHR (Electronic Health Record) system.
- Support medical billing by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and Medicare requirements for accurate claim submission.
- Maintain clinic schedules and coordinate care plans to optimize patient flow.
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and HIPAA privacy rules.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, including clinic or dental office experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as eClinical Works, Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (including 10-key typing).
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing medical records, filing systems, and office management tasks.
- Experience working with insurance verification processes and health information management systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech is highly desirable.
