Cardinal Menomonie offers a 12-hour rotating shift (days/nights), working a 2-2-3 schedule. Working half the days of the year, and every other weekend off.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Must be 18 years of age to apply
- High School Diploma or GED desired
- Basic math and reading skills
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds

JOB DESCRIPTION
Ensure the furnace is properly adjusted and maintained to achieve efficient melting of batch materials. Perform optical readings and conduct routine inspections above, below, and around the furnace to identify flames, openings, or hot spots. Inspect the batch charger visually. Verify that hoses remain cool to the touch and check the operation of fans, pumps, and the external water-cooling system. Adjust air, fuel, and gas levels as needed to sustain proper melting conditions. Promptly notify the supervisor and relevant departments of any issues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Sit in air-conditioned control room to monitor and make adjustments to furnace on a computer console.
- Climb stairs and ladders.
- Walk on uneven surfaces on the furnace crown.
- Walk under furnace, perhaps stooping while walking, and visually inspect refractory over head.
- Bend or squat to apply mortar where needed.
- Pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Stoop, sweep, and bend to clean.
- Be certified annually to wear a respirator.
