Secondary Level English Language Arts Teacher
Cardinal Spellman High School, a dynamic, co-educational Catholic High School (grades 9-12) in Brockton, MA., is seeking a full-time English/Language Arts teacher, starting in the 2026-2027 school year. The candidate must be qualified to teach a range of English courses, including AP, Honors, and College-Preparatory. Experience teaching at the AP level is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include:
Teach content and skills in English language, literature, and composition, as well as in reading, utilizing the CSHS Curriculum guidelines for English and other appropriate learning activities as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of all students.
Participate as a contributing member of the English Department and the Spellman Community.
Keep appropriate records, update gradebooks regularly, and prepare progress reports as needed.
Communicate with parents through a variety of means, including conferences, emails, and phone calls to keep them up to date on student progress, and program components.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning atmosphere in and out of the classroom by providing a safe and secure environment.
Align student assessment with instructional goals, appropriate to the needs of the student. Provide learning experiences that develop student competence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.
Perform supervisory duties as assigned.
Participate in all aspects of positive culture and community building in the classroom and at school events
Understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for diverse student needs and learning styles
Participate in professional development for continuous learning
Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an environment of mutual respect and appreciation for all members of the school community.
