Our Organization: The Cardinal Shehan Center is a non-profit organization located in Bridgeport, CT. For 64 years, the Center has served the recreational, educational, and social needs of moderate and low-income families and young people of lower Fairfield County, particularly inner-city Bridgeport. Our mission is enriching lives through learning. This is accomplished by offering an After School & Saturday Youth Development Program, Summer Day Camp, various basketball leagues, Sign-Up Programs, Physical Education classes to grammar schools, and alternative education programs.
The Position: We’re looking for qualified Summer Day Camp Counselors! The Counselor will primarily be responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. The Summer Day Camp runs June 22, 2023-August 14, 2023, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. *Shifts between these times are potentially flexible based on experience and preference.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, participate in, and administer recreational activities for children.
- Provide a safe and fun environment for participants.
- Work cooperatively with professional staff, other counselors, and families.
- Maintain daily schedule and attendance.
- Guide children in their physical, social-emotional, and academic growth.
- Communicate with families about their children's time at camp (ie. accidents and behavior incident) through written reports.
- Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
