The Gables of Westerville is seeking an experienced nurse to join our team as Assistant Director of Nursing/ Staff Educator. This role will provide training and education for the nursing and care teams to ensure consistency in best practices and high levels of care. The ideal candidate will have a background in memory care and nursing leadership, with a passion for providing exceptional care to residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of the Memory Care (MC) program to ensure high-quality resident care.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and scheduling to meet the needs of memory care residents.
- Monitor resident behaviors and medication changes, communicating updates to the care team as needed.
- Ensure all memory care assessments are accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Observe and evaluate nurse and aide skills to maintain high standards of care.
- Train, coach, and mentor nursing staff specifically in memory care best practices.
- Maintain strong communication with family members regarding resident status and care plans.
- Coordinate efforts and communication with third-party vendors involved in memory care services.
- Supervise resident daily activities including meals, showers, clothing changes, room cleanliness, and laundry status.
- All other duties: assigned by Director of Nursing and Executive Director
- Hours are on-site Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm; One weekend per month; other hours as needed
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
- Previous experience as a Memory Care Coordinator and/or Assistant Director of Nursing a plus but not required.
- Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) credential a plus
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to train and coach nursing staff effectively.
- Team-oriented, adaptable and open-minded approach to meeting common goals.
