Summary/Objective
The Maintenance HVAC Technician ensures the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across various facilities. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC equipment to provide a comfortable and safe environment for building occupants.
Essential Functions

- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems including air conditioners, heaters, ventilation units, and refrigeration equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using specialized tools and equipment, and execute timely repairs to restore system functionality.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with facility managers and other maintenance personnel to schedule and prioritize work orders, minimizing disruption to building operations.
- Ensure all HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely by adhering to manufacturer specifications, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
- Repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, operation manuals, and manufacturers specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such heating units, air conditioning units, and blower motors using hand-tools, power tools and testing instruments. (Candidate must be strong in these areas.)
- Observe machinery in operation and listen to sounds to locate the cause of trouble.
- Dismantle machinery to gain access to and remove defective parts.
- Make periodic inspections of units and performing preventative maintenance.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited HVAC technical training program or apprenticeship.
- Valid EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associate degree or higher in HVAC technology, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of energy management systems and building automation controls.
- Certification in HVAC excellence or other industry-recognized credentials.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience in both commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
