Role Description The Senior Staff Attorney is a full-time, on-site role based in Springfield, MO. This role involves managing a varied caseload across the firm’s core practice areas, including case strategy development, factual and legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, and providing clear legal advice to clients. The attorney will conduct negotiations, participate in hearings and trials as needed, and collaborate closely with other attorneys and staff to drive cases forward efficiently while maintaining high quality work. Daily responsibilities include communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and courts; preparing for depositions and mediations; and mentoring junior team members in best practices and professional standards. The Senior Staff Attorney is expected to show initiative, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of outcomes while aligning with the firm’s mission of achieving the best possible results for clients.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Family Law, with experience in one or more of the firm’s core practice areas (personal injury, sexual abuse, real estate, criminal matters).
- Demonstrated expertise in Labor and Employment Law or related regulatory issues, as applicable to client matters.
- Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to clients, including risk assessment and strategy recommendations.
- Advanced Research skills, including case law, statutes, regulations, and factual investigation.
- Proficient Negotiation skills for settlements, plea discussions, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Missouri, or eligibility for timely admission.
- Several years of experience in litigation or a comparable legal role, with a track record of managing cases independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capacity to work on-site full time, collaborate effectively within a team, and handle a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
