Forklift Operator - 2nd Shift

Job Summary  |  The Forklift Operator in the Shipping department is responsible for accurately and safely loading trucks and transporting glass throughout the facility to meet daily shipping requirements at Cardinal IG, a world-class glass fabricator that leads the nation in providing the highest quality insulating glass products for the residential window and door industry.

Essential Functions  | 

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices and guidelines
• Inspect racks for quality and verify the product is loaded accurately to meet or exceed Cardinal and customer expectations
• Safely operate powered equipment while transporting glass throughout the facility and loading and unloading products
• Ensure the driving zone is clear from debris or hazards by maintaining a clean work environment
• Operate manipulator to pack glass into wooden crates, if necessary
• Ensure all rejected glass is dumped into recycling bins
• Utilize handheld scanners when loading trailers to create bill of lading
• Communicate with IG department to stage racks required for production
• Utilize the wrap machine or shrink-wrap racks manually
• Ensure open communication with manager and team by ensuring radio remains on while working on the plant floor
• Willingness to seek out additional roles and responsibilities within your department
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively, ensuring all radio calls are answered
• Assist the team, leads, and management in achieving departmental objectives
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Perform housekeeping tasks in the workspace to maintain a clean work area
• Requires regular in-person attendance
• May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines

Workplace Environment   |

• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects
• Noise levels can be high and will vary based on the location in the plant
• May be required to move racks outdoors and indoors

Note: A baseline audiogram will be completed and may require yearly maintenance testing provided by Cardinal Glass Industries.

Qualifications   |  

• Minimum of two years of sit-down forklift experience is required
• Consistent work history in glass manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred
• Must be 18 years or older
• High School Diploma or GED preferred

Physical Ability    |

• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
• Climbing/Reaching/Push/Pull/Grip/Pinch

Shift & Pay    |

Shift: 2nd Shift Monday - Friday 2:30 PM-11:00 PM     

Pay: $20.00/hour $1.00 Shift Differential = $21/hour Potential Monthly Profit Sharing

 Bonus - Potential Monthly Profit Sharing for all Shifts
