As a Hazmat Driver you would be responsible for transporting hazardous materials safely and efficiently while following all applicable transportation laws, safety procedures, and environmental regulations. Drivers must maintain proper certifications and ensure accurate documentation for all shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect trucks, trailers, and safety equipment before and after trips
- Fuel and grease heavy equipment
- Follow all U.S. Department of Transportation and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations
- Maintain accurate paperwork
- Secure cargo according to hazmat guidelines
- Respond appropriately to spills, leaks, or emergencies
- Communicate with dispatcher, superintendents, foremen and operators
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks
- Follow route schedules and deadlines
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), typically Class A or B
- Hazmat endorsement (H endorsement)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screening
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling procedures
- Physical ability to load/unload cargo and work long hours
- High school diploma or GED (commonly preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Tanker endorsement (N endorsement)
- Previous trucking or hazardous materials experience
- Knowledge of federal transportation regulations
- Experience with heavy equipment
