We are seeking a Service Manager to lead our Service Team from both the field and the office in Compton, CA. This role requires a proven leader with strong technical knowledge of filter media systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide crews through complex and physically demanding projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and supervise service crews in the removal, loading, installation, and disposal of activated carbon.
- Manage projects involving media changeouts across multiple system types, including:
- Pressure vessels (vapor & water phase)
- Open bay filtration systems
- Biogas systems
- Tank removals and inspections (internal & external)
- Oversee specialized procedures such as:
- Pneumatic and slurry tanker operations
- Vacuum methods for media removal
- Chlorination, caustic wash treatments, nitrogen purging, and methane system service
- Direct installation and repairs:
- Internal installations and valve tree assemblies
- Nozzle replacement and internal repairs on vapor and water systems
- Bulk carbon, GAC, and sand inductions
- Backwash methods
- Perform field inspections, water/vapor sampling, and documentation for client reporting.
- Train, mentor, and manage Class A drivers and field technicians.
- Ensure strict compliance with hazardous and non-hazardous materials handling, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Operate and oversee heavy equipment, bulk tankers, slurry systems, and other service machinery.
- Provide hands-on support in the field as needed, including physically performing changeout work.
Requirements
- Class A Driver’s License (required) — while driving will not be frequent, this ensures effective leadership and technical credibility with driver crews.
- Experience with bulk tanker, slurry, and vacuum systems for media change-outs
- Demonstrated leadership in physically demanding field service environments.
- Strong communication skills, both in person and virtually; must be tech-savvy for reporting and coordination.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in field service or industrial operations
- Experience with hazardous and non-hazardous transportation and material handling.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to job sites across the U.S.
- Physically capable of performing media changeouts and field installations when required.
- Knowledge of chlorination, nitrogen purging, caustic wash treatments, and related chemical handling.
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt under pressure.
