Job Description
The Bridge Housing Advisor (RA) is responsible for the daily operation of the Bridge Housing programming and safety of the residential units. Responsibilities include facilitating program basics with participants on matters such as medication monitoring, development of household living skills and responsibilities, sound nutrition basics, physical and social activities, and the integration of residential guidelines with independent living skills concerns for all residents. The Residential Advisor is supervised by the Bridge Housing Manager.
Essential Functions: The Bridge RA must:
- Implement residential services for residents by being attentive to individualized goals and objectives; monitor and evaluate progress toward stated objectives; provide training, therapeutic assistance and support in independent living skills.
- Supervise resident behavior and notify the Bridge Housing Manager/Program Director or other appropriate community services when psychiatric intervention, medical treatment, emergency services, notification of next of kin, or behavior controls is required.
- Cooperate with the Program Director in developing and implementing residential policies and procedures.
- Supervise and be responsible for establishing food budgets, the planning and purchase of food, the maintaining and purchase of household items and the maintenance of all household equipment. Collect rent from residents as needed (as assigned by the Bridge Housing Manager) and maintain all assigned household records.
- Assist with orientation and moving through the program.
- Assist residents with self-determination and decision-making.
- Assist and coordinate resident transportation needs.
- Teach functional skills (managing meds, finances, health care, resources, daily living, WRAP, good neighbor, other curriculum subject matters, etc.).
- Prepare nightly meals for all residents and encourage resident participation in the preparation, planning and cooking of nightly meals.
- Ensure the office, kitchens, and common areas are kept clean and organized.
- Supervise clients’ care of the premises. Direct residents in normal cleaning and upkeep of the apartment/house and maintenance of the entrance areas. Report any necessary repairs and/or maintenance to your supervisor.
- Maintain regular communication with staff as directed through emails and by phone. Write daily shift report emails.
- Attend all scheduled meetings, including weekly supervisory meetings with fellow RA’s and Program Director. Help implement goals with residents and give feedback regarding performance of previous goals.
- Model appropriate behavior and maintain therapeutic, caring attitude towards residents and their problems. Support resident self-advocacy.
- The RA should maintain current CPR and First Aid certification. All Caramore employees may provide First Aid or CPR to residents or co-workers on a “Good Samaritan” basis.
- All staff members are encouraged to use positive interventions prior to utilizing negative interventions to modify maladaptive behaviors.
Non-Essential Functions
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the RA Position
Physical Demands:
The work is primarily clerical. Typically, the employee will sit to do the work. However, there will be some walking, standing, cooking, bending, climbing stairs, moving light furniture, carrying of light items such as books, papers, etc., accessing transportation and driving your personal vehicle.
Work Environment:
Work will be performed in a wide range of settings, including in client residences, in community-based outpatient settings, community agencies, or in transport vehicles (public or government). Work areas are often noisy, irregular and unpredictable and can be stressful at times. Residents demonstrate varying levels of recovery and symptoms.

Mental Health Professional Designation
The minimum mental health professional designation for this position is paraprofessional.
Minimum Qualifications for the Positions
a) High school diploma or GED
b) Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are necessary.
c) Must be 18 years of age or older
d) Have a valid driver’s license, registered and insured vehicle, and be able to travel to provide services in the community.
Additional preferred qualifications: Bridge Residential Advisor must have a proprietary approach to work situations, be unflappable in crisis, hopeful in outlook, personable, and have a great sense of humor.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
