What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter and Body Restoration Technician position at Car Restoration Guy?
- Perform bodywork including rust repair, metal fabrication, panel replacement, and filler work
- Block, sand, and prepare panels to restoration-quality standards
- Apply epoxy primer, high-build primer, sealer, base coat, and clear coat
- Wet sand, buff, and polish finishes to show-quality standards
- Reassemble restored vehicles to factory or custom specifications
- Align and fit doors, hoods, fenders, tailgates, and body panels to proper gap and fitment standards
- Install glass, trim, moldings, weatherstripping, and exterior components
- Ensure all panels, seals, and components are properly installed, adjusted, and protected from future corrosion
- Identify and correct fitment, alignment, and finish issues before final delivery
- Perform final quality control inspections to ensure every vehicle meets Car Restoration Guys standards
Qualifications
- Experience in restoration bodywork, paint, and vehicle reassembly
- Strong understanding of panel fitment, body gaps, weather sealing, and trim installation
- Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality standards
- Experience with classic vehicles preferred
- Detail-oriented craftsman who takes pride in their work
