Job Title : Body Shop Estimator

Reports to : Body Shop Manager / Assistant Manager

Job Description

The Body Shop Estimator completes the estimate for Repair Order. He or she must always follow all safety policies and procedures, which includes properly using personal protective equipment when required.

Responsibilities

  • Explain related and not related damages to customer at drop off. Tag with shield and vehicle with green marker to identify related and non-related damage. Photograph vehicles before being placed in production.
  • Write DRP and non-DRP estimates. Assist customers who come for estimates.
  • Call and update customers twice a week and put notes in Repair Center.
  • Receive customer authorization to start repairs and / or supplements. Customers who arrive with an initial estimate must sign the NACC authorization form with dollar amount and estimate ID. Supplement copy must be emailed to customer to confirm verbal authorization with a copy of the estimate. Copy and paste this email into the notes section of Repair Center to verify authorization in our records.
  • Call non-DRP insurance to confirm coverage, payment and / or supplement.
  • Print out in-process work report daily to oversee all vehicles in production. This report will be used to review the status of all vehicles in morning production meetings.
  • Assure that all repairs are in compliance with manufacturer specifications. Verify your tech has printed out repair procedures for all major repairs or provide for them. Must be sure that all the work we have estimated is being performed. Any work or part not replaced must be removed in order to be in compliance with the BAR. Estimator is to notify PM that vehicle is leaving to assure all parts use on vehicle are costed.
  • Once authorization is received, email parts order to Parts MGR & CC GM and email GM to flag technician. No work is to be performed without a work order.
  • Assure that vehicle is completely torn down before estimate / supplement is written. Tech to mark all damaged parts with yellow marker. Parts to be laid out and photographed in order to identify all parts that must be replaced. Review of all photos is required while writing estimates to ensure all parts are included. All damaged parts must be stored at the bottom of the parts rack. Service advisor to go over damage(s) and repairs before any work is performed on vehicle by tech. Additional parts must be in the Management System before they are ordered. The tech will identify the part to advisor, the advisor will add to the estimate and
  • Transfer to Repair Center in order for the Parts Manager to order the additional parts. If the vehicle is not torn down to Estimators satisfaction, tech will need to remove further parts in order for a proper estimate.
  • When calling a sublet vendor as needed (PDR, dealer work & stripes) alert Collision Center Manager.
  • When the vehicle is complete, the Estimator must QC work prior to delivery. Deliveries require two people to go over lights and the work performed, to properly schedule with the customer.
  • Pre-close files to be BAR compliant before delivery. Check that all parts are posted and marked returned before pre-closing paperwork. Ensure that all work performed is listed on the estimate before delivery.
  • Notify the Manager if there are any issues with vehicles or customers.
  • Make sure that all payments are secure before releasing the vehicle. The estimator is responsible for their A / R. Office manager will follow up as long as all documentation is on file.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    A. Standing : Intermittent, not to equal more than 40% of the working day.

    D. Stooping (bending at the waist), kneeling (at knees) and crouching (at knee and waist) : Infrequent activity, not equal to or more than 35% of the working day.

    E. Lifting : Maximum of 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.

    F. Carrying : Maximum of 25 lbs. on a frequent basis.

    G. Pushing and pulling : Frequent activity using equipment and hand tools.

    H. Climbing and balancing : Occasional activity

    I. Crawling : Occasional activity.

    J. Twisting or turning of trunk : Frequent activity.

    K. Reaching : Frequent activity.

    L. Handling : Frequent activity (hand tools, etc.)

    Hazards : Noise and vibration (normal) : Electrical air tools, machinery and various repair and diagnostic equipment and automobile engines.

    Pay : $63,980.40- $115,166.40 annually
