We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Auto Damage Appraiser to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing vehicle damage, estimating repair costs, and ensuring that all evaluations comply with industry standards. Your expertise in automotive repair and strong negotiation skills will be essential in providing accurate appraisals and facilitating effective communication between clients, repair shops, and insurance companies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to assess the extent of damage.
- Prepare detailed reports and estimates for repairs needed, utilizing auto estimating software.
- Collaborate with auto body repair shops to discuss findings and negotiate repair costs.
- Provide expert analysis on mechanical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive service trends and industry standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain appraisal findings and answer any questions.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines while processing claims.
- Support service writing by documenting all necessary information related to the appraisal process.
- Assist in the training of junior appraisers or interns as needed.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles and familiarity with auto body repair processes.
- Proven experience in automotive service management or a related field.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to advocate for fair pricing.
- Proficient in auto estimating techniques and software applications.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate damage accurately and make informed recommendations.
- Experience in auto restoration is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills.
