Available Job Opportunity: Pipeline Operations Engineer


Full-time role in Allen, TX, with some travel required.


CapturePoint is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to oversee the field development and reservoir management duties for active CO2-EOR floods in Oklahoma and Texas. The job is based in CapturePoint’s corporate offices located in Allen, Texas, reports to the West Region asset manager, and is expected to require travel approximately once per quarter to district and field offices as well as to oil and gas production facilities.

 

The position requires performance of all reservoir engineering activities for the assigned field assets, including identification of opportunities to pursue additional oil and gas recovery, building the reserve economic cases, and monitoring performance against plan throughout the year. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Reservoir Engineer with measurable accomplishments in reservoir management, production optimization, systemic surveillance and reporting, and reviewing and revising current and future field development planning. Specific proven experience in CO2-EOR operations and successful waterflooding is strongly preferred.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with a multi-discipline asset team to develop and manage production performance in tertiary CO2 flood oil recovery operations.
  • Monitor well performance (production/injection/disposal) and conduct reservoir surveillance to develop action plans to maximize the value of the assets.
  • Generate and present new capital project proposals to develop reserves and add value to assets and production.
  • Prepare and defend reserve cases and long-range plans.
  • Prepare and update production budgets and forecasts.
  • Conduct risk and uncertainty assessments for EOR projects.


Specialized Knowledge Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of equipment and processes utilized in CO2 tertiary oil recovery operations, including waterflooding and CO2 floods.
  • Full knowledge of industry standards and recommended practices for CO2-EOR as well as all applicable state and federal oversight regulations.
  • Experience with state and federal agency reporting requirements for all aspects of CO2 tertiary oil recovery.

  • Must possess strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey practical concepts and relevant information to all levels of personnel including executive management.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally in person and by telephone.


Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant job experience as a Reservoir Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with production operations and gas handling facilities.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated understanding of project economics.
  • Experience with ARIES, DSS, OFM, Petra, Spotfire and IFM (MBal, Prosper, GAP) strongly preferred.
  • Physical demands: work will be primarily conducted in an office environment with required abilities including lifting up to 35 pounds; being stationary (sitting) for long periods of time with occasional movement about the office; constant viewing of a computer screen; and operation of computer and other office equipment including frequent alphanumeric keyboarding.
  • Ability to work in a professional office setting, including capabilities to function with typical background office noise; to manage customary stresses of an office environment; and to communicate constantly, consistently, and effectively within teams and across departments.
  • Availability for travel (approximately once per quarter) to remote district and field offices (primarily in Oklahoma and Texas), and to oil and gas production facilities with requirements to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Must have valid documentation to work in the United States required (proof of US citizenship, permanent residency, or a relevant, valid, unexpired work visa or permit from an authorized US government agency)
