Role Description The Legal Videographer is responsible for recording depositions and other legal proceedings, ensuring clear audio and video quality and proper documentation of each event. Day-to-day tasks include setting up and operating cameras, microphones, lighting, and related equipment; conducting pre-session checks; coordinating with attorneys and court reporters; and managing recordings and file transfers according to Caption Legal’s protocols. The role also involves operating video conferencing platforms for remote or hybrid proceedings, monitoring the integrity of the recording, and addressing technical issues promptly and professionally. This is a contract, hybrid role based in Pennsylvania, United States, with a mix of on-site assignments and some work-from-home tasks, such as remote session management, file handling, and administrative follow-up.
Qualifications
- Strong video production skills, including planning, setup, and execution of professional-quality legal recordings.
- Proficiency in camera operation and shooting video, with the ability to maintain stable, clear, and properly framed footage.
- Knowledge of lighting techniques suitable for indoor legal environments, ensuring subjects are well-lit and visible.
- Experience with camera and audio equipment troubleshooting, including basic maintenance and quick issue resolution during sessions.
- Familiarity with Zoom or similar video conferencing platforms and hybrid meeting setups.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to follow legal recording procedures and naming/archiving standards accurately.
- Professional communication skills and a calm, respectful demeanor when interacting with legal professionals and participants.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to proceedings within Pennsylvania as required.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple assignments as a contractor.
- Prior experience in legal videography, courtroom technology, or related fields is preferred but not required.
