Senior MySQL Database Administrator — Contract | Enterprise Production Environment
Summary:
Capstone IT is helping our client to find a Senior MySQL Database Administrator who will manage and support highly available MySQL environments powering mission-critical enterprise applications. This person will own day-to-day production database administration, performance tuning, replication, clustering, backup/recovery, upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is deeply experienced with MySQL, highly proficient with advanced SQL, and comfortable administering and automating database environments directly from the Linux command line.

Responsibilities
- Administer enterprise production MySQL databases.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain MySQL.
- Configure and support replication, clustering, and automated/manual failover.
- Manage backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot database and production application issues.
- Analyze and improve database performance.
- Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans.
- Develop and troubleshoot complex SQL.
- Automate recurring DBA processes with Linux shell scripts.
- Perform database migrations and environment refreshes.
- Conduct database capacity planning.
- Work closely with application development and infrastructure teams.
- Participate in production on-call support.
- Follow enterprise change-management processes.
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on MySQL DBA experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise, production, mission-critical environments.
- Advanced SQL skills.
- Strong MySQL performance tuning and optimization experience.
- Strong Linux command-line skills.
- Shell scripting/automation experience.
- Strong MySQL replication and high-availability knowledge.
- Backup, restore, and disaster recovery experience.
- Experience with Galera Cluster, InnoDB Cluster, or Group Replication is highly preferred.
