Position Summary
The Head Golf Professional serves as the leader of all golf operations, ensuring a superior experience for members and guests.
The ideal candidate will be both a steward of tradition and a forward-thinking innovator, with expertise in instruction, technology, merchandising, and staff leadership.
This individual will oversee golf operations, tournaments, staff development, instruction, and retail, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and member service.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations & Member Service
- Oversee all daily golf operations, including tee sheet management, pace of play, and staff scheduling
- Deliver a consistently excellent experience for members and guests
- Maintain strong visibility and engagement on the course and around the Club
Leadership & Staff Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor assistant professionals and golf operations staff
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and service-driven culture
Tournaments & Events
- Plan and execute all member tournaments, interclub matches, and outings usingGolf Genius
- Ensure accurate event setup, scoring, and reporting with excellent communication to participants
Retail & Merchandising
- Manage all aspects of golf shop operations: inventory, purchasing, pricing, and presentation
- Curate a mix of traditional and contemporary brands that align with member preferences
- Golf shop ownership or management structure to be determined with the Board
Instruction & Player Development
- Provide private and group instruction for all skill levels
- Develop clinics and programs for men, women, juniors, and new golfers
- Utilize technology to enhance teaching and player development
Administration & Financial Oversight
- Prepare and manage operating budgets, payroll, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with Club policies and maintain accurate tournament and retail records
Qualifications
- PGA Class A Member in good standing
- 5 years of experience as a Head or First Assistant Golf Professional at a private club
- Proven success in member relations, instruction, and merchandising
- Proficiency with Golf Genius, NorthStar, and related technology platforms
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience
- 100% of lesson income retained by the Professional
- Golf shop ownership or management arrangement (negotiable)
