What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Investments position at Capricorn Investment Group?
Lead the implementation of a systematic sourcing process for investment opportunities into private and public funds as an LP for endowment-style portfolios. Source GP stakes transactions in impact-aligned asset management companies. Build and maintain relationships with brokers and advisors, as well as with other LPs investing in sustainable asset management firms. Oversee the research function across asset classes: Determine the strategic direction of the research team, develop strategic frameworks by asset class and ensure continued implementation of the investment process in line with the strategic framework. Manage Analysts' and Associates' outreach to asset management firms across asset classes, and due diligence processes of investment opportunities. Engage in discussions and provide opinions within Capricorns Investment Committee meetings to contribute to high-quality investment decision-making. Manage client portfolios, recommending positions, sizing and timing of allocations. Present Capricorns recent deals and investment pipeline in fundraising meetings for the GP stakes strategy with potential Limited Partners. Handle communication with clients about portfolio performance, both from a financial returns perspective as well as an impact and sustainability perspective. Develop a network in the industry and communicate Capricorn's OCIO offering in order to source potential clients. Serve as a representative of Capricorn throughout the investment community by participating in networking events and attending industry conferences to cultivate opportunities and advance Capricorns thought leadership. Lead the hiring, training and management of investment professionals at the Analyst and Associate level, directing and reviewing their work, setting yearly objectives and recommending hiring/bonus/promotions and terminations. Job Requirements: Masters degree in Management or Finance with a specialization in Sustainability or Environment and four years experience as an Investment Analyst or Investment Associate. The four years experience must include performing due diligence on GP stakes transactions into impact-aligned asset management companies, including building valuation and cash flow models; and performing due diligence on LP commitments into funds across asset classes with a focus on the energy transition and social impact. The four years experience must also include using the Bloomberg PORT function and Burgiss Private I software for portfolio look-through analyses; creating and maintaining private capital planning models specific to endowment style portfolios in sustainability investments; using Preqin for private fund research and evestment for public equities risk/return analyses; and drafting investment memoranda and presenting to an Investment Committee.
