Knowledge and Experience:
- 5 years of proven experience as Payroll Manager
- UltiPro and Workforce management experience strongly preferred
- Multi-state payroll, benefits and tax knowledge required
- Experience dealing with Union payroll processing required
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred
- Accounting or Business Degree is preferred
Skills:
- Ability to meet critical deadlines and achieve organizational objectives
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency with payroll software; experience with Microsoft D365 a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work across departments
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality is essential
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills a must
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment to meet required deadlines
- Intermediate mathematic skills
- Strong communication skills is a must
Key Accountabilities:
Strategy and Governance:
- Coordinates with the broader payroll, time & attendance, and finance teams
- High level of expected collaboration across all departments and peers
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and maintain highest level of company standards
Business Processes:
- Oversee and direct all payroll processing and procedures
- Identify and lead process improvements for process payroll account transactions (e.g. salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third party payments)
- Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises, bonuses, etc) and system upgrades
- Ensure compliance and serve as a subject matter expert on all applicable laws and payroll tax obligations
- Supervise and mentor staff as needed
- Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits
- High level of expected collaboration with Human Resources and accountants across all divisions
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports
- Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions
- Provide timely reporting as needed and other ad hoc projects
Payroll System Projects:
- Lead initiatives and system projects for assigned locations
- Collaborate with project teams, partnering with external and internal stakeholders
Additional Statements:
Drug and alcohol screening: Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen. Also, contingent upon receiving a favorable background check. Must pass a physical examination.
