Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Curriculum and instruction
Develop and execute daily lesson plans to ensure student mastery of specific, measurable and ambitious objectives
Plan a program of study that complements and meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
Create and execute long-term plans in conjunction with other school faculty to ensure mastery of grade-level standards
Work with students below, at, and above grade level to ensure that all students are learning and achieving at the highest level possible
Ensure that all IEPs and student needs are met both within and outside of the classroom
Data, reflection, and continued learning
Administer school-wide interim assessments in order to track student achievement
Collaborate with school leaders and grade level team to use data to drive instructional practices to constantly improve student achievement and instruction
Hold oneself accountable for the achievement and growth of all students
Seek to constantly develop and improve teaching practices through ongoing feedback conversations with school leaders and other school faculty
School culture and professionalism
Create and foster a positive learning environment and exhibit positive rapport with students
Hold high expectations for all students
Implement the school-wide behavior management system consistently with all students
Work as part of a team to ensure that the school represents the mission, vision and values of CREC
Qualifications and key attributes:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Connecticut Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment (Spanish-023)
Two years or more of teaching experience is preferred
Demonstrated significant student achievement results preferred
Belief that all students can learn at a high level
Commitment to the vision, mission, values and goals of CREC Schools
High-level written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of state standards, common core and effective pedagogy
Experience using inquiry-based learning and constructivist methods, including the workshop model for reading and writing.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Ability to use data to inform instruction
Willingness to be an active member of a professional learning community focused on action research within the school and the classroom
Prior experience working with diverse populations in a middle school/high school setting preferred
