CREC's Polaris Center is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our program beginning in the 26-27 school year. The Polaris Center serves students in grades K-12 who are presenting with significant social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
The special education teacher is responsible for a caseload of no more than 10 students and will work as a member of a supportive, comprehensive team that includes a social worker, BCBA, and related service providers. The teacher will create a classroom community; implementing trauma informed and evidenced based practices where students receive specialized instruction to make academic and behavioral growth. Other responsibilities include writing IEP goals and objectives, completing academic assessments for triennial testing, PPT participation.
Teachers at Polaris are members of the collective bargaining unit and participate in the Connecticut Teachers' Retirement Board.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and current CT certification in Special Education. Ability to receive Durational Shortage Permit will be considered.
- Previous experience working with students who have social, emotional, behavioral and learning challenges.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to be certified in Safety Care Training.
