Capitol Engineering is an established and expanding custom fabrication company delivering high quality engineered & fabricated steel products to a wide variety of industries including mining, agriculture, and general industrial applications. Capitol Engineering was established in 1937 in located in downtown Phoenix AZ. We are currently growing at a rapid pace and are looking to add experienced and qualified Estimator/Project Managers to our team.
This position requires an experienced, energetic, detail-focused individual that wants to be part of a growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background estimating steel fabrication and project management. This position will require you to work as part of a large team and individually on smaller projects as required.
Position Description:
Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for preparation of competitive, accurate and profitable estimates and proposals for fabrication of hoppers, bins, chutes, stairs, rails, structural steel, as well as other metal products within our scope of work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate scope of work and RFQ’s from customers including drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Prepare material take-offs based on drawings and specifications
- Source and price materials as needed to prepare estimates
- Assign labor man-hours for processing of work
- Source and obtain pricing for sublet work
- Work with customers to ensure their exact requirements are being satisfied and also work to bring additional value to the project
- For design/build projects, work with engineering or utilize other resources as needed
- Assist with internal processes and approvals as necessary for bidding
- Prepare detailed proposals, including schedule, payment terms, terms & conditions.
- Prepare estimate summary, project data sheet, and ensure all documentation is properly distributed
- Participate in kick-off meetings prior to start of fabrication as required
- Follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction after completion of project
Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:
- Ability to read/interpret drawings and prepare thorough and accurate material take-offs
- Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer knowledge and proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a collaborative format with multiple team members
- Strong math skills
- Strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks/projects in fast paced environment
- Familiarity with contractual language a plus
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in steel fabrication estimating
Salary : $35 - $40
