We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our Topeka team. This key role is responsible for coordinating the timely dispatch of our products while ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction. The Dispatcher will work closely with customers, drivers, and internal teams to provide efficient service and foster strong working relationships across all touchpoints involved in the delivery process.

This is a full time exempt position. The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000, depending on qualifications. JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Combination of education, training, and experience to perform the duties as required.
  • Knowledge or experience with logistics, computing systems, concrete block, masonry products, hardscape products, and other building materials. Showing the ability to work safely or the ability to be trained.
  • Must have physical strength to perform required duties of the position. (Handles and moves objects and equipment with potential weight up to 100 pounds).
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks and projects.
  • Ability to understand and communicate with management and co-workers in order to carry out the duties and tasks assigned. (Communication Proficiency)
  • Ability to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to perform the duties as required. (Required Customer/Client Focus)
  • Ability to expedite communication to supervisor and/or appropriate personnel needed for repairs or addressing other issues of concern.
  • Team work with ability to operate on own initiative.
  • Highly disciplined to follow through with assignments and tasks.
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug / alcohol screenings.
  • Adheres to safety requirements and procedures, and wearing of required safety equipment and clothing.
  • Operate Company equipment i.e. copy machine, dolly, postage machine etc...
  • Ensures that property, safety, and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Occasionally walk / carry objects on varying terrain – paved, unpaved, dirt, rough terrain, etc.
  • Requires balance and equilibrium when moving through office, climbing stairs, and stocking shelves.
  • Occasionally work in various weather conditions – hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, wind, etc.
  • Performs materials transportation, handling, and storage.
  • Maintains accurate and timely paperwork load tickets, return tickets, inventory counts, etc....
  • Valid Driver's License (Preferred).
  • Other duties as required may include performing other duties associated with other job descriptions within the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • This position is a full-time position that may require long hours and weekend work or after hours duty. Work schedule may vary based on supply and demand.
  • This position is required to work under adverse weather conditions such as outdoor conditions which may include rain, snow, wind, heat and/or cold.
  • Perform various tasks, activities, duties or responsibilities required of this employee for this job.
  • Knowledge of logistics, office management systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Partner with HR, Internal Auditor, IT departments to ensure all policies and controls in place are strictly followed i.e. purchase orders, delivery tickets, return tickets, log books, invoices, etc.....
  • Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring that all items all paperwork is done per direction of internal auditor.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Provide general support to the manager, sales team, office staff, and production staff.
  • Proficient phone communication skills.
  • Proficient skills with office equipment i.e. postage machine, copy machine, etc.
  • Proficient computer skills with strong grasp of SAP and Microsoft Office programs i.e. Word & Excel.
  • Knowledge of products and services offered helping customers with needs on the phone or at the counter.
  • Ability to multi task, by taking on multiple tasks simultaneously and seeing each through to completion.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Make tickets for customers and load sheets for delivery.
  • Maintains safe operation at all times.
  • Supervises drivers and consistently communicates with them on delivery locations, loads, etc.
  • Opening and closing procedures, answering phones, taking orders, and scheduling trucks and drivers.
  • Work with customers in a positive, professional manner when there are technical problems or conflicting delivery times, establishing satisfactory rescheduled times.
  • Ship orders in a timely and efficient manner, work with customers to adjust truck demand to meet proper delivery rate.
  • Coordinate and schedule independent truck owners.
  • Monitoring inventory levels of products and reordering/restocking materials as needed.
  • Assist others in clerical and or maintenance tasks during slow or idle periods.
  • Extensive knowledge of the surrounding area with ability to read and understand maps.
  • Problem solver and multi tasker that makes good judgment calls when under pressure.
  • Perform mathematical functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, with all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals pertaining to billing, volumes, and quantities.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office, SAP, and other computer skills as needed.
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Knowledge of products enabling dispatcher to ask appropriate questions of customers learning of their needs, and advising them on products needed for their application.
  • Estimate projected quantities for customer's projects and make tickets.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical demand requires Moderate level work:
    • Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
    • Up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or
    • A negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
  • Other physical/work conditions may include but not be limited to.
  • Consistently to reach above shoulders and climb to get in / out of equipment and stock shelves.
  • Constantly required to hear sounds, and have clarity of near, far, and peripheral sight with depth perception.
  • Perform duty in working conditions where sounds, noise levels require hearing protection;
  • Perform work in conditions that may also include contaminants, hazardous equipment, hazardous situations;
  • Perform work that requires pushing, lifting, pulling, or carrying objects; use of abdominal and lower back muscles to provide physical support to operations as needed.
  • Perform work in areas where hazardous conditions can exist where employees are to be observant of not being caught in, on, or under machinery and/or equipment. Work areas may include the operation of forklifts maneuvering throughout the work area. Finished materials being lifted overhead and placed onto trailers and within storage areas.
  • Lift heavy objects and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions. (Refer to physical functional analysis for this job classification.)
  • Employee is expected to wear hard hats, safety glasses and heavy protection steel-toed boots when working in areas in which these are required.
  • Good manual dexterity (hand with arm, two hands and multi-limb coordination)
  • Constantly sitting while using office equipment, computers.
  • Load customers with building materials and restock shelves as needed.
