Capitol Aggregates is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Safety Intern to join our Aggregates Division. This role supports our Safety and Health Manager in advancing safety initiatives that protect employees, contractors, and visitors. What You’ll Do
Safety Program Support
- Assist in identifying activities that pose risks to worker safety and health and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Support efforts to promote an incident-free workplace by contributing to the development and revision of safety programs.
- Help maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
- Assist with Safety Committee activities and initiatives.
- Assist with safety training sessions and demonstrate proper use of safety equipment.
- Support new employee safety orientations and onboarding processes.
- Maintain, file, and update training and compliance records.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations to help identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Learn to inspect designated areas to confirm the presence and functionality of safety equipment, fire prevention equipment, and first-aid supplies.
- Assist in compiling and submitting accident and injury reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Support MSHA inspection processes, follow-up meetings, and discussions regarding citation responses.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current enrollment in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or a related college program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
