Quality Engineer Intern Summer 2026

Capitol Aggregates is seeking a Chemistry Lab Intern to support our laboratory testing and analysis activities. This role offers hands-on experience in material science and cement chemistry, with opportunities to learn advanced testing methods and work directly with experienced chemists and engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with laboratory projects related to the analysis of raw materials, clinker, and cement chemistry.

• Capture, document, and enter laboratory data accurately and efficiently.

• Support material characterization using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and titration methods.

• Participate in pilot grind experiments and help with chemical and physical characterization of results.

• Assist with method development and improvement initiatives.

• Maintain lab equipment and work areas in a safe, organized, and clean condition.

• Abide by and support all company and plant safety policies, rules, and MSHA regulations.

What You’ll Bring

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

• Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.

• Curiosity and willingness to learn laboratory methods and analytical techniques.

Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.

• Background in chemistry, materials science, or civil/chemical/materials engineering preferred.

• Prior experience with laboratory or analytical testing methods is helpful but not required.
