Electrical Intern Summer 2026

Gain Hands-On Experience. Support Plant Reliability.
Capitol Aggregates is seeking an Electrical Intern to join our Cement Plant operations. Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor and Manager, this role will assist with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in an industrial environment. The position offers practical experience in electrical maintenance while supporting safe and reliable plant operations.

What You’ll Do

• Install, repair, maintain, and adjust indicating, recording, and controlling instruments used in production.

• Disassemble malfunctioning instruments, test mechanisms and circuitry for defects, and repair or replace defective parts.

• Troubleshoot electrical plant equipment, including switchgear, motors, AC/DC control circuits, and PLC interfaces.

• Inspect, calibrate, and test equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and coordinate with the control room daily.

• Assist with building and implementing logic programs in plant equipment control schemes.

• Work with electrical staff to perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment.

• Perform electrical construction tasks such as conduit bending, cable runs, and installations in compliance with NEC.

• Safely support plant operations by following company and MSHA safety policies, rules, and procedures.

• Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition.

What You’ll Bring

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• Ability to read and follow ladder diagrams and basic ladder logic.

• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn advanced troubleshooting techniques.

• Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with plant teams.

Education & Experience

• Currently enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Other Qualifications

• Knowledge of PLC programming, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits is helpful but not required.

• Ability to understand and follow instructions while maintaining a focus on safety.

• Strong organizational skills and a proactive attitude in completing assigned work orders.
