What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Externship PreMed/ Pre-PA, Pre- Optometry position at Capital Vision?
Great Opportunity to learn directly from physician and medical staff.
Externship Option program - Volunteering- part time position; 4 month minimum commitment
Must be available a minimum of 1 day per week, yet 2 days per week highly preferred.
Requirements: Bachelors degree. Pursuit in medical career as a medical doctor, optometrist, nurse, physician assistant, certified ophthalmic technician, or other health related field. Great for students or gap years
Training will be provided as part of the program during your time in the office. Near completion of the externship, you will be provided a recommendation letter and mock interviews for school if needed. This is a fun learning environment and we have a great team.
Competition for getting into PA, medical schools and other health related fields is high. Schools choose the best applicants and are really looking for clinical experience.
Experience in the medical field with outstanding letters of recommendation swill greatly improve your chances of admission. We have assisted many students with getting into medical school and other professional schools
As an outcome of the externship you will be able to: engage directly with physicians, medical staff, and patients.
You will get an introduction to:
Taking good patient histories and directly working with patients
Medical office administration/front desk experience including registering patients and checking eligibility
Observing minor surgical procedures
CPT and ICD 10 codes (medical billing)
Communicate with patients and insurance carriers.
Learn to check patients visions.
Learn how to write and phone prescribe medications.
Learn to operate ophthalmic testing equipment. Photo/Visual field/ and OCT machines.
