We have an immediate opening for a “Material Handler” position.
Summary:
The Material Handler position will perform all functions of shipping and receiving to include preparing orders, bill of ladings, loading trucks, unloading trucks, and receiving materials in the ERP system to control finished goods and raw material inventory.
The Material Handler will typically work 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Candidates must be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Responsibilities:
Preparing Orders
- Follows sales orders to ensure that they are correct for daily shipments. Labels shipments to conform to DOT guidelines.
- Ensures that orders get prepared correctly to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Ensures that orders are followed up with a checklist to ensure accuracy and accountability from the person preparing the order.
- Maintains compliance with DOT guidelines to avoid fines and penalties for shipping hazardous materials.
Preparing Bill of Ladings
- Uses the ERP system, ROSS, to generate bill of ladings for daily shipments of less than truckload ( < 8000 lbs. ) and truckload orders ( > 8000 lbs. ). Samples materials when out of test date to ensure inventory is rotated and controlled by lot numbers and manufacturing dates.
- This position will ensure that bill of ladings generate for shipping documentation of hazardous and nonhazardous materials. When generated, the bill of lading is also documentation for invoicing the orders.
- Any technical manufacturing experience in chemical facility would be advantageous
- Must be able to operate a forklift
Receiving Raw Materials
- Responsible for receiving raw materials into the ERP system, ROSS. Receives the correct weight and part codes from the purchase order and generates a location label to put the raw material into the correct bin location for production operators to use when charging batches for manufacturing finished goods.
- Ensures that the correct amounts per part code are recorded in the ERP system so that accounts payable pays the correct invoice amount and production has the raw material to make the batches and close out batch tickets.
Housekeeping
- Maintains the work area in a neat and orderly manner. Cooperates with management to prepare assigned areas for housekeeping inspections.
- 5S audits are performed with the expectation to maintain a 95 % or greater score.
- No reportable injuries for self or staff.
Safety
- Observes plant safety rules.
- Identifies safety hazards and reports such to supervision. Takes precautionary measures to control safety concerns. Makes suggestions to continuously improve safety.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Any technical manufacturing experience in a chemical facility is preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to operate a forklift while handling drums weighing up to 600-pounds.
