ESD 113 learns from and cares for our staff, schools, students, families, and the land, works alongside communities to build pathways that expand opportunity, and acts with collective purpose to advance educational justice.

This position is 260 days/year, 8 hours/day.

This position is based in Tumwater, WA, but may provide service throughout the ESD 113 Region.

Purpose Statement

The job of Coalition Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of developing and coordinating the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) community coalition program for the benefit of students, families, and community members.

Essential Functions

Partnership and Program Support Assists in a variety of processes (e.g. partnership collaborations, recruitment and supervision of volunteers, development of marketing materials, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring awareness and delivery of program services.

Training Participation Attends required training for the purpose of gathering information required to perform functions.

Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborates with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. local individuals, organization, community agencies, etc.) for the purpose of increasing volunteer involvement in the community coalition.

Community Coordination Coordinates with school personnel and community groups for the purpose of identifying needs and implementing activities and services for the community.

Communication Development Develops communication with students and parents for the purpose of encouraging participation in school activities and education and training programs.

School Personnel Coordination Meets with school personnel as needed for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective school-based community coalition strategies.

Program Evaluation Participates in evaluation of program outcomes for the purpose of providing data as required by the program funder and completes necessary reports required by the program funder.

Travel Requirements Travels, as needed, to (e.g. meetings, school districts, trainings,, etc.) for the purpose of completing the essential functions of the position.

Other Functions

Personnel and Volunteer Assistance Assists other personnel and volunteers as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities related to the community coalition.

Related Duties Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the community coalition.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge Required Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: local agencies, resources, site systems and access to services.

Skills Required Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and implementing effective oral and written communication with a variety of social and ethnic groups.

Abilities Required Ability is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate.

Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: displaying mechanical aptitude; adapting to changing work priorities; working altered work schedules; working with students, families, and community members in a direct service environment; meeting schedules and time-lines; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; working with frequent interruptions; working with detailed information/data; and working independently.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 85% sitting, 5% walking, 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Education and Experience Requirements

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Equivalency: Associates or Bachelors' Degree preferred.
