Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and internal medicine, with experience in geriatrics, wound care, infectious disease and hospital settings. This role is essential in providing administrative support and ensuring efficient patient care within our clinic. The Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to facilitate a smooth workflow and enhance patient experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures in the clinic or hospital setting.
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, medical histories, and documenting information accurately.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and provide patient education on medication usage.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with coding for insurance purposes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and handle medical administrative support tasks.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and best practices in the field.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of internal medicine, geriatrics, hospital operations, and clinic environments.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and physiology.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred but not mandatory.
- A compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Spanish speaking preferred
