Role Description The Account Manager is a full-time, outside sales role based in Puyallup, WA. This role is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of customer accounts, primarily in the lumber and building materials sector, by developing strong relationships, understanding customer needs, and providing solutions that align with Capital Lumber’s offerings. Day-to-day activities include proactive outreach to existing and prospective customers, preparing quotes, negotiating pricing and terms within established guidelines, and coordinating orders and deliveries with internal operations and logistics teams. The Account Manager tracks sales performance, monitors market trends and competitor activity, and collaborates with branch leadership to develop sales strategies and customer programs. This role also involves resolving service issues, maintaining accurate account records, and representing Capital Lumber’s values and commitment to customer success.
Qualifications
- Experience in account management, sales, or customer service within building materials, lumber, or related industries.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with diverse customers.
- Solid organizational and time management skills, including ability to manage multiple accounts, prioritize tasks, and follow through on commitments.
- Comfort with basic business math, pricing, and margin analysis, and ability to interpret sales reports and market information.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, CRM or ERP systems) and willingness to learn company-specific tools.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment in making customer-focused decisions within company policies.
