Description
The Material Expediter is responsible for coordinating and expediting the movement of medical and non-medical supplies and equipment within the warehouse and distribution areas to ensure timely delivery to the appropriate locations. This role involves verifying shipments, managing inventory, and collaborating with warehouse personnel to maintain an efficient supply chain. The Material Expediter ensures compliance with hospital policies and DHA regulations while supporting logistics operations at BAMC.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials, supplies, and equipment between storage and operational areas.
- Verify incoming shipments for accuracy, ensuring proper documentation and routing to the correct locations or end users.
- Process and route Class VIII medical materials, including controlled substances, temperature-sensitive medical products (TSMP), and hazardous materials, in accordance with BAMC and manufacturer guidelines.
- Utilize automated systems such as bar code scanners, handheld terminals, and government database management systems to track and manage inventory.
- Assist with inventory control by conducting location surveys, rotating stock, and reconciling discrepancies in automated tracking systems.
- Identify and remove expired or unserviceable medical/surgical expendable supplies in coordination with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) personnel.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with DHA policies and procedures related to material handling and distribution.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment as required to facilitate material movement.
- Monitor and report on material shortages, delivery delays, or discrepancies to management for resolution.
- Support logistics operations by preparing materials for shipment, loading/unloading trucks, and staging supplies for distribution.
- Assist in organizing storage areas and optimizing space utilization.
- Support periodic inventory audits and reconciliations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule
- Shifts are scheduled between Monday and Friday, from 0500 to 1700, with an 8.5 to 9-hour shift.
- Each shift includes a 30 or 60-minute unpaid lunch.
- Shifts are assigned by site lead upon start.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must be familiar with windows-based computer applications navigation and usage.
- Must speak, comprehend, read, and write English fluently.
- Must have at least one year’s experience in medical logistics, warehouse operations, or material handling
- Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance.
- Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without an employer sponsored visa.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift and government driver's license. License will cover the employee to drive and operate government vehicles weighing greater than 4 tons NTE 5 tons, with 6 wheels maximum.
- Within 30 days of beginning services under this contract, an employee must provide immunization records that include the following:
- Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids with a current booster.
- Immunity test for hepatitis (Type B) virus, and completion of Hepatitis-B vaccine series if non-immune.
- Serologic evidence of immunity to measles and rubella, or documentation of MMR vaccination.
- Tuberculosis screening annually via Mantoux technique (TINE test is disallowed).
- Annual influenza immunization.
- Experience with DMLSS and Pyxis software is highly preferred.
- $23.40 per hour
- $4.93 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, Health & Welfare (H&W)
