SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)
Assists the department in the clerical aspects of preparation for patient meal service through accurate menu processing and assisting patients with menu selection.
Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: Knowledge of modified diets preferred. Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.
Other Credentials
Knowledge and Skills: Basic Computer skills. Ability to write, read English.
Special Training: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Friendly demeanor and customer focused.

Essential Functions
- Operates Room Service computerized menu system to receive patient/family initiated meal requests. Generates and reviews computer meal period reports to determine which patients have not ordered for the meal period.
- Assists patients with telephone call backs or personal visitation as needed while ensuring adherence to all diet orders. Answers telephone promptly and appropriately with designated script. Maintains a pleasant and helpful attitude throughout the menu item selection process.
- Educates patient on basics of current Diet order. Assists patient in menu item selections according to Diet specifications.
- Acts as the Food & Nutrition Department liaison with the Nursing Staff on each unit. Communicates professionally, courteously and professionally with Staff at all times.
- Enters accurately and timely, all new diet orders upon admission. Updates all diet order changes throughout the day efficiently and accurately.
- Maintains and updates Room Service menu ordering system as needed.
- Coordinates processing of AM and PM nourishment orders including printing the labels. Process orders for patient requested nourishments.
- Processes orders for all tube feedings and oral supplements according to established procedures.
