Position Overview
SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)
Provides day-to-day, real time operational management and optimization of Operating Room throughput and procedural flow across all procedural areas including Operating Rooms, Cardio Vascular Interventional Radiology (CVIR), Heart and Vascular Center (HVC), Endoscopy, and Hopewell Ambulatory Surgery Center (HASC). This role functions as the central operational and logistics lead, actively coordinating resources, rooms, staffing, equipment, and case sequencing to ensure safe, efficient, timely procedural care. Working collaboratively with Perioperative Leadership, Anesthesia, Surgeons, and Ancillary departments, the role proactively identifies barriers, mitigates delays, and adjusts plans in real time to optimize utilization, access, and patient flow.
Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred.
Experience: Three years of healthcare related experience in the Operating Room, procedural services, surgical scheduling, or logistic/healthcare capacity management.
Other Credentials: Registered Nurse - NJ
Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of perioperative workflows and OR operations. Demonstrates ability to manage real time operational flow and logistic. Excellent communication, prioritization, and problem solving skills. Ability to function in a fast paced, high acuity environment.
Special Training: Proficient in Microsoft word, excel, and scheduling/clinical information systems.

Essential Functions
- Coordinates overall functions of the Procedural Scheduling Departments across campus.
- Establishes staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage; monitors and enhances productivity of the schedulers
- Provides real time operational oversight of daily operating room and procedural schedules to optimize utilization, case flow, and throughput.
- Serves as the central coordination point for OR logistics, including room readiness, staffing alignment, equipment availability, and turnover efficiency.
- Actively monitors procedural progress and adjusts case sequencing, room assignments, and staffing plans in response to delays, emergencies, add-ons, or staffing constraints.
- Collaborates closely with Perioperative leadership, Anesthesia, Surgeons, and Ancillary departments to resolve operational barriers as they arise.
- Leads daily operational huddles and provides real time communication to stakeholders regarding flow, delays, and mitigation plans.
- Participates in the onboarding, education, and support of scheduling and flow staff, providing functional guidance without formal supervisory responsibilities.
- Collaborates with leadership on continuous improvement initiatives related to Perioperative throughput, efficiency, and access.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support operational needs.
