Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an MCA (Merchant Cash Advance) Underwriter, based in Clifton, NJ. The MCA Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating funding applications by analyzing financial documents, business cash flows, and creditworthiness. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing bank statements, identifying risks, assessing the ability to repay, and approving funding requests based on analytical findings. The role requires collaboration with the sales and operations teams to ensure efficiency and compliance with company guidelines.
Candidate will also be responsible for bank verifications, background checks, merchant interviews, and reporting to management. Candidate needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, identify good from bad opportunities, and be a good communicator with Brokers.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to assess financial documents, bank statements, and cash flow trends
- Strong accounting background and skills. Ability to review bank statements and understand how the business is getting paid. Recognize inconsistent revenue trends. Identify payments made to other creditors. Payment frequencies. Making versus missing payments.
- Underwriting expertise, particularly in the field of merchant cash advances or financial services
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with sales and operations teams
- Proficiency in financial tools and software used for underwriting or risk assessment
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Prior experience in the financial or lending industry is a plus
