What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Capital District Beginnings?
Capital District Beginnings is an educational agency providing services for children with special needs in the Capital District. Beginnings has an opening as a Special Education Teacher to join our growing community of professionals. This position could be full-filled part-time, full-time, or in an hourly capacity. The teacher will be responsible for providing differentiated, direct instruction for middle and high school students in an Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) regulated juvenile detention facility.
Responsibilities including (but not limited to):
- Teach curriculum in an OCFS juvenile detention facility setting
- Assist students in developing the skills and content required to be successful
- Implement IEPs, including data collection, writing daily progress notes, and measuring progress towards goals
- Modify and adapt the curriculum as required per students’ IEPs
- Communicate regularly with teaching team
- Implement behavior intervention plans
- Write annual reviews and attend IEP meetings
