1:1 Aide
Department: Education
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Beginnings Special Education Classroom Teacher
Position Description: This position exists to provide moderate to intense support to one or two children specifically assigned, and to assist in the attainment of each child's Individual Education Plan goals. A 1:1 Aide is responsible for carrying out the Special Education Teacher’s directives, complying with State and Federal regulations and Agency policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No Supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions:

Provides One-on-One Instruction in Academic Areas after Initial Instruction by the Teacher and according to child’s IEP:
- Facilitates practice of long and short-term goals in daily tasks.
- Facilitates social interactions between the child and other children in the classroom.
- Encourages generalization of skills and independence.
- Ensures the safety of the child at all times.
- Assists the child in daily living skills such as toileting, feeding and dressing.
- Manage records.
Assists in Implementing Student Behavior and Classroom Management Plans
Models, prompts and reinforces appropriate classroom and social behavior. Reviews classroom rules and procedures with all students as directed.
Collects and Records Data as Assigned by the Teacher
Observes, records and charts student performance data on Teacher designated tasks.
Facilitates the Inclusion of Students in Typical Classrooms and Other Settings
Facilitates independent or partial participation of student(s) in typical classrooms and activities using appropriate instructional
strategies including positive and constructive feedback.
Assists with the modification of materials, curriculum, assessments etc. as directed by the Special Education Teacher. Facilitates and encourages positive classroom and social interaction.
Assists with Clerical Duties and Preparing Instructional Materials
Assists Teacher in keeping administrative records.
Assists with the Supervision of student throughout the day
Establishes positive and productive relationships in the educational environment
Establishes a positive rapport with Students and Staff. Seeks advice, instruction and direction regarding new or complex tasks.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and carries out assigned duties responsibly and in a timely manner.
Evaluation
Performance evaluated by Beginnings Classroom Teacher.

Minimum Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED
